Well, that was disappointing.  I went out the other night a bit after 10 PM to see the eclipse, but the moon wasn’t there.

 

I’m a bit of a lapse Catholic.  How lapse?  I was asked if I wanted to see the Pope at Madison Square Garden.  I was excited, but then asked, “Wait!  Is that the night the Giants are on?”

 

Two games I always lose.    When walking in the city, I play “Older or Younger.”    Everyone who passes by I ask myself if that person is older or younger than me.   Way way way too many times the answer is “Younger”.    The other game is “My Car, Your Car.”   While driving, I ask myself if I would want my car or the car that just passed by.    Seems my answer is always “Your Car”.    Neither game is up for the Game Hall of Fame.

 

Now it’s official! It has been published in the media. The WahooTwo has just released the entry price: $5.99 to keep the subscription of your status to be set to “private”. Now that I have time on my hands, I find myself reading the Legal Notices in the local newspaper.   You can learn a lot.   One thing I learned, the town is accepting bids from dry cleaners to do the uniforms of the police department.    I didn’t know WE had to pay for their laundry.  City police do their own.  

And this other item really caught my eye.

“Notice is hereby given by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Airmont that a Public Hearing will be held on October 5, 2015 at 7:30 PM at Village of Airmont Village Hall to discuss changing the street name from Cobblestone Road to Cobblestone Lane.”  

I decided to go on the Google Maps to take a look-see.   They already have it down as Cobblestone Lane.    Hmmm, sounds like the fix is in.   I’m thinking of going to the Hearing just to demand it remain Cobblestone Road.    They can’t get away with this.  Not on my watch.

 

Yogi Berra was a man who made life a happier place.   He died on Yom Kippur, which reminded me of a story.  Dodger great Sandy Koufax refused to pitch in the World Series on Yom Kippur.   When Yogi was why he agreed to play on Columbus Day when Sandy refused to play on Yom Kippur, Yogi said, “Christopher would have wanted it that way.”

 

Now that the Emmys have come and gone, it really seems like the Late Show with David Letterman is over for good.

 

It’s National Coffee Day.   I drink a couple cups a day . . .  of instant.   Never bought myself a Dunkin’ Donuts coffee or a McDonalds.   I’ve never been inside a Starbucks.   But . . . instant?  Why do I drink instant coffee?   Because it’s cheap and easy.   But I drink instant mostly for the reactions I get from coffee aficionados.   Their anger and disgust when I say I only drink instant is great entertainment.    I drink ShopRite Instant coffee.  Right, not even the “good” instant.  I drink the store brand.  It makes them even madder, in which I take great delight.   There is one sad thing about all this, though.   I’ll stand in the supermarket trying to decide what brand of instant I should go with.   And it always comes back to ShopRite because the big jar is $2 cheaper.     I’ll stand there for a minute or two debating whether I should pay the extra $2 for Maxwell House or Yuban, and I can’t bring myself to spend the $2 even though it’s a $2 jar of instant that will cover 2 months.   $2 more for over two months of coffee.   And then I’ll go to the bar and throw out a twenty and not give a thought on the price of a pint that’ll last 2 minutes.  Makes no sense.

 

Does Martin Shkreli also own the rights to computer printer ink?
